south of America. From that time, it started increasingly
attracting numerous enthusiasts belonging to all age groups
and countries. At present, countries like Cuba, Australia,
United States, South Africa, and several parts of Europe
engage in this activity.
Chronological Events
Bass fishing as a sporting activity was launched sometime
between the years 1768-1770. It was a person called Simus
Ustonson, who presented his original multiplying reels to
seasoned anglers and fishing enthusiasts. This was converted
into the bait caster afterwards.
William Shakespeare Jr. played a leading role in developing
the level wind device. In 1897, he got it patented.
The William J. Jamison Co. in 1915 launched the excessively
decorated Shannon Twin Spinner, which was further improved
upon to produce the current spinner baits.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in 1932, set up the formation
of Tennessee Valley Authority. He supported the design and
manufacture of several dams. The very same dams were
afterwards used for growing several species of bass fishes.
About five years from then, the DuPont Company filed for nylon
fishing nets patent rights. These nets were soon after
improved upon to make nylon monofilament fishing lines.
The year 1992 witnessed amongst the most celebrated events in
bass fishing history. Larry Nixon, the legendary angler, in
the annals of bass fishing history, won an outstanding prize
of one million dollars in this very sport, in that year.
Bass Fish
Numerous species of fish that are caught during bass fishing
events include:
Largemouth Bass or Micropterus Salmoides (Lacepede)
Smallmouth bass or Micropterus Dolomieui

On the other hand, it needs to be stressed that the Australian
Bass are quite dissimilar to the North American varieties of
Bass, even though a majority of them have identical features.
Maybe, it was sometime in the 1950s, which saw bass fishing
witnessing stupendous growth. The recognition that this sport
received at that time, served as a launching pad to the growth
and improvement of the latest fishing gear ranging from
fishing rods, lines, bass boats, lures, and diverse fishing
equipment.
Electronic gears too were included among the plethora of
fishing gear that bass fishers availed of during that time.
Several kinds of reels, which were necessary for hauling and
hoisting, too were manufactured.
The bass fishing sector has made significant contributions of
around fifty to seventy billion dollars to the United States
economy, and the numbers are rising further. According to
statistics, the number of people involved in this sport has
increased considerably and a growing number of people are
moving towards this activity rather than taking to golf and
tennis. |
